The agreement will also include research to assess the emotional impact of labor inclusion on people with disabilities.
Santo Domingo. September 2025
Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña and the consultancy firm Abraza, experts in social responsibility, signed an agreement to launch the “Inclusive Employment Practices” program. This initiative will facilitate training and create work opportunities for adults with disabilities and neurodiversity.
This program aims to remove ongoing barriers to labor inclusion in the Dominican Republic for people with disabilities and neurodiversity over 18 years old. It seeks to develop work skills through hands-on training in trades and tasks that support the production of essential inputs needed by the business sector, such as services and the creation of materials that are easy to handle and suitable for use.
In this process, UNPHU will support the «Inclusive Employment Practices» program by providing training spaces, which will later be used for labor placement of the participants. Meanwhile, ABRAZA will develop inclusive practices for careers in Education and Psychology. Additionally, as part of the agreement between the university and ABRAZA, a study will be conducted to assess the emotional impact of labor inclusion on people with disabilities.
During the process, we will also work with entities that will refer their candidates to participate in the “Inclusive Employment Practices” program, including Fundación Loata, Dominican Down Syndrome Association (ADOSID), Manos Unidas por el Autismo, Nido para Ángeles, Best Buddies, Futurum Educandi, and others.
Allies supporting the program include the Buenas Nuevas Foundation, the Quiéreme como soy Foundation, the Dominican Rehabilitation Association, the Samy Project, the Grow and Bear Fruit Intervention Center, and the National Council for People with Disabilities (CONADIS).
Abraza is an organization with over 10 years of experience in social responsibility. Its main focus has always been the inclusion of people with disabilities and neurodiversity, both from the business and ASFL perspectives, supporting strategic alliances and preparing for workforce inclusion at the corporate level.
